The work of Roderick Mojica

I first met Roderick (I call him Rod) at San Diego Comic Con. Apart from being about as likable a person as I’ve ever met, he’s also a ridiculously talented artist with a remarkable history.

At age 43, Rod is a double organ transplant recipient. Since receiving a new kidney and pancreas, he probably understands better than anyone the importance of being an organ donor. Roderick uses his abilities to support the organ donor cause by raising both money and awareness through gallery shows and art sales in an effort to provide others with the new lease on life that he received, even if it’s just a matter of reminding people to opt into donorship.

I was lucky enough to be the subject of one of Rod’s pieces (oil on canvas):

If you want to buy a print, or check out his other work, or learn more about the cause, find Rob on Facebook. Proceeds from the sales of Rod’s paintings and gallery shows are donated to Lifesharing.org. Lifesharing.org is a non-profit organization that provides organ recovery, donor family support, and educational services in San Diego and other areas in Southern California.

Thank you fans, and FootNight!

I recently attended the L.A. FootNight party and award ceremony. I had a blast, loved meeting all the new people and seeing familiar faces.

I was nominated in two categories: Most Popular/Fan Favorite, and the holy grail of FootNight awards, Miss FootNight 2012. Congratulations to Miss Chloe for taking the Miss FootNight title. It was an honor just to be nominated in that category.

Buy Girl Scout Cookies

When something crazy/awful/stupid/controversial/interesting/awesome happens on the internet, I typically see it. A YouTube video was being posted about that contained a 14 year old girl advocating the boycott of Girl Scout cookies simply because the Girl Scouts recognize diversity and equality.

Now if I responded to every stupid thing on the internet, I wouldn’t have a life. But this one rubbed me just the wrong way.
